Oklahoma City Thunder Celebrate First-Ever NBA Championship With Historic Downtown Parade

The city of Oklahoma City is preparing for a celebration of historic proportions. After years of building, battling, and believing, the Oklahoma City Thunder are officially NBA Champions—and the entire city is ready to show the love.

To mark the franchise’s first-ever NBA title, OKC will host the 2025 Thunder Championship Parade on Tuesday, June 24 at 10:30 a.m., promising an unforgettable day in the heart of downtown. Thousands—if not hundreds of thousands—of Thunder fans are expected to line the streets, transforming the city into a sea of blue and orange.

This isn’t just a celebration of a trophy—it’s a full-circle moment for a city that has poured its soul into its team. Since relocating from Seattle in 2008, the Thunder have grown into a symbol of resilience, unity, and pride for Oklahoma City. Now, with a championship banner on the way, that journey has finally come full circle.

“The day of the parade will forever live in the annals of our city’s history,” said Mayor David Holt. “It is a celebration of our team’s historic accomplishment and our city’s renaissance.”

Mayor Holt has called on employers and institutions across the city to give people the opportunity to attend, acknowledging the once-in-a-lifetime nature of this event. And honestly? He’s not wrong—OKC is ready to THUNDER UP.

As fans from across the state, the nation, and the world descend upon OKC, the event marks not just a sports milestone but a cultural one. The Thunder’s rise to the top represents the passion of small-market franchises and the power of team-building, patience, and belief.

“Let’s gather together to celebrate our OKC Thunder and be great neighbors to one another,” Freeman added. “This will be a celebration to remember.”

From high schoolers skipping class to grandparents wearing vintage Russell Westbrook jerseys, the parade will be a melting pot of generations who’ve followed this team through every era—from KD and Russ to Shai, Giddey, and Chet.
